WHEELS

I got some new wheels...what they call an "all-terrain" stroller. That means I can ride just about anywhere! -maddox

NEW ADVENTURES

Since my birthday, I have shown a sudden interest in walking with my push lion. Going up and down NaNa's hall was getting boring, so Mom put me outside in the grass and I walked til I had to sit down!
I got sweaty.

I covered a lot of ground.

It's a big yard. I also picked up some trash and stopped to check out the grass. And the dirt.

At times, I almost ran.

I even got the dog to move when she was in my way. I'm starting to realize that this walking thing makes me even MORE of the boss. Get ready. -maddox

HAIR (I HAVE A LOT OF IT)

Mom slicks my hair back when I get out the tub, but then it grows.
See? This is the Maddox 'Fro.
It also flips. And curls in the back. What's a guy to do? I pondered the situation today as I held onto a toy pilot, a mini basketball and an okra pod. It looks like a haircut in the near future is unavoidable. -maddox

ARRRGH MATEY!

According to my birthday cake, I have been around one whole year! I got to be a pirate for the day. This is my chocolate treasure chest.
Before the party started (when Mom wasn't looking), I broke into the bag of soda. Notice, I bypassed my presents for the bottle of Coke.

This is me as Captain Therrell. I suddenly sprouted facial hair and a tattoo. I guess that's what happens when you turn one. Maybe I am a man now (or almost).

I had a real boat outside filled with my treasures and a flag letting all know that those treasures were MINE.

I also had a bird. He hung around my high chair but I didn't let him have any cake.

Jacob and I took turns on the slide in our little pool. He was my fellow pirate. For some reason, our facial hair started to disappear.

The best part was the chocolate cake. I don't know why I had a bib on. I got it EVERYWHERE.

I ate the whole slice.

I liked all my treasures, but was a bit overwhelmed.

And even with all that chocolately sugar running through my body, I started dreaming as soon as my head hit the pillow. Pirates have a tough life. -maddox

SWARMED BY GNATS

At first, I thought all the gnats were coming for my lemon Italian ice. But then it became clear that they preferred me! -maddox

A GIANT COW

I have a new view! Papa Joe turned my carseat around today. But I had no idea when I got in it that we were going to see a....

...COW! I was pretty impressed that he could walk on two legs instead of four. You can't tell in this picture, but I was really happy to meet him!! -maddox

I'M BACK!

I've been on a hiatus, yes, but blame Mom! Her camera batteries died.
I still have the same good-lookin' face...
...and the same talents. Look, no hands!

I think I am gaining some weight, though. Oh no, I kinda look like buddha!

I have recently realized that outside is the best place to be. I point at the door now. Before long Mom will have to start spelling outside. But even then, I'll still know. -maddox

NEW SHOES

I had my very first shoe fitting at Stride Rite today. I was as quiet as a mouse while the saleswoman put about five different pairs of shoes on me and then I suddenly darted to an activity table nearby.

Mom made a good choice with these white lace-ups. I admired my feet the whole way home from the store. And playing with the strings is pretty fun. -maddox

PLAYDATE

I love my playdates with Ninny and Cousin Abbie. We read books, push cars and bring EVERYTHING out of my toy basket.
People say work is hard, but so is play. After a long day of playing, I need a big cold drink. -maddox

LIONS AND BEARS, OH MY

I showed Mimi and Grandpa how to make my lion happy. You press his nose and he starts to play music. That's when I dance (I am still not sure about the walking thing, though).
Later, I fed Mimi some of my teddies. There is nothing better than Teddy Graham drool. -maddox
