BABY BIRDS

Mama always tells me that the birds say "tweet tweet." The baby birds say it even louder. twEET twEET. I saw some today for the first time ever.
They have a nest on our back porch. The flash on the camera scared them, though. Too bad I didn't have any worms for them to eat.

I thought about the baby birds all day and it made me so happy. -maddox

PLAYIN' IN THE DIRT

From the height of my stroller, I spotted a great place to play in the shade.
Ninny was thinking the same thing. She got a blanket. I sat on it, but my feet curled up around the grass...

...and I grabbed piles of dirt and leaves with my hands.

Eventually I wanted to see things from a different angle. I was relocated to a "big boy" chair and that made me pretty happy.

Then, even that got old. Grandma was glad to walk me around the yard and we worked on my soccer skills. I'm not one to brag, but I must say, I think I've got some talent there.

Finally, finally .... I decided it was time to relax. -maddox

ONE SWEET DAY

There is something fun in the air on Fridays. Today I watched some Baby Einstein but this time (unlike all Mom's attempts before) it actually held my attention.

My favorite show was about a farm. I liked when the tractor rode across the screen.

When a ton of apples fell out a bucket, it really caught me off guard!

After my nap, we went to Marble Slab Creamery. It's THE place for ice cream. Dad got chocolate.

Mom got vanilla mixed with strawberries and blueberries.

And I got some of Mom's. It was only fair. -maddox

FIRST WORD

It happened at dinner out of nowhere. Mom was cooking in the kitchen and Dad was trying to feed me the rest of my carrots. I was DONE. I cried. I looked straight into the kitchen. And then I spoke. "Maaaaa-maaaaa." It had the effect I had hoped for. Mom and Dad looked at each other in amazement. And I didn't have to eat anymore carrots! -maddox

SCARY PENGUIN

At first, my new toy amused me. He was just a penguin and seemed harmless enough.
But when I touched him, he wobbled around and got noisy.

Was he alive? He WAS almost bigger than me. I hit at him with my toothbrush in self-defense.

Then, I turned in a flash and crawled away as fast as I could. -maddox

SNORING IN THE SHADE

I went to the park today with Mom, Dad, Mimi and Gramps. It was too sunny outside to be stuck in the house.
The sun was bright, but from the shade of my hat, I saw two horses across the water.
Mimi and Mom pushed me around in the shade because the sun still made me squint too much.

This was the result, of course. I even snored, or so I'm told. It's a hard life. -maddox

PEACHES AND PIANO

There are at least two things I am sure that I like in this world.
#1: Peaches. The evidence is sticking to my face.

And #2...

My piano. I take it seriously. Look at this face. If practice really makes perfect, then I should be the next Chopin. Look out! -maddox

Easter at Ninny's

My first Easter was a lot of fun.
Mom and Dad and me spent the day at Ninny's house with lots of family. I almost skipped my afternoon nap because there was so much going on and I didn't want to be left out!
We had three Easter egg hunts before us kids were satisfied. Grandma and me found this egg. It was MINE. I made sure to let everyone know that in case they tried to steal it.

Someone swiped it while Mom was swinging me in the air. Darnit!

I liked the neighbor's dog. He is just the right size for me. I think he liked me, too.

So, after my VERY short nap, I was recharged and ready for some more laughs. Here, Ninny is trying to get my "sugar." I didn't know I had any. If I could find it, I'd definitely eat it. Oh well. I'm pretty sure I was the life of the party. -maddox

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACOB!

Today my best friend, Jacob, celebrated his VERY first birthday. He got a badge that said he was a marshal. I guess that means he was in charge for the day. I was just a plain ole cowboy. And from the look of my plaid pants, I was a cowboy from maybe the 1970's.

I didn't want to mess with Jacob too much. This shiny thing he carried around looked dangerous.

I practiced my walking skills so I can chase Jacob when he least expects it.

This is my mom and Jacob's mom. They're best friends too!

Jacob got a whole cake all to himself. I thought it was the funniest thing to see him eat that cake and I couldn't stop laughing and egging him on.

I'll be honest. I snuck a taste. Yum!

Looks like all the celebrating wore me out. -maddox

ANOTHER PLAYDATE

I ventured to the park again. And yes, Jacob was there! He didn't want me to take his hat, though.
It's ok. I got to a eat a french fry. Well, maybe more like three french fries. (Don't tell Mom)

I laughed on the swing one minute and fell asleep the next.

It was fun watching other kids...

...but Jacob is still the best playmate. -maddox
